Okay 3, 2, 1, Let's Jam!

What an odd day in the land of Fuman's First 10. I fear few of the songs on the list today will be too familiar, but that's just all the more reason for you to go and check them out. Right?

1) Rock Lobster - B-52's
I'm not joking. This is on the list. Incredibly hokey, and yet it's just a fun song. I suppose anyway...Fred Schneider has quite the interesting vocal style. But you all know that.

2) Spokey Dokey - Tsuneo Imahori, Ryuichiro Senoo, and Keishi Urata
Enter the first of the unknown songs. Actually if you are a Cowboy Bebop fan, then this song may be familiar. It's a nice, ambling tune comprised of a harmonica, a guitar, and synthesizers. Odd combination, but then so is Cowboy Bebop. Relaxing with an Old West twang.

3) Scotland the Brave - ??? (but possibly performed by the British Colombia Dragoons)
Apparently the lyrics were by a Scottish journalist by the name of Cliff Hanley. This, however is the marching pipe version. No lyrics. You've all heard it, I'm sure. It's the unofficial national anthem for Scotland. I enjoy the bagpipes immensely...

4) So Happy Together - The Turtles
Once again, a song that everybody's heard of. Nice and sweet. Not much more to it than that.

5) Some Fantastic - Barenaked Ladies
The Barenaked Ladies have many different sides to them. First, there is the front side. And then the backside. From there, we have the inside. In their songs, however, these sides include depressing/suicidal songs, slightly smartass songs, and wacky songs. Of course, the love side often fits in any of these other styles. This particular song is a wacky love song. It's all about going to crazy extremes to be able to get with somebody.

One day I will work with animals
All the tests I'm gonna do
All my stuff's completely natural
And when we're done we'll boil 'em
down for glue
that we can use to re-adhere
your lips to mine if you were here

See? Crazy AND sweet at the same time. Good ol' BNL.

6) Testing 1,2,3 - Barenaked Ladies
Some guys would pay a lot of money for two Barenaked Ladies in a row. ZING! Oh, goodness. This song is certainly less active than the last one. This seems sort of ambiguous to me, but I think it's about skewed perspectives on past dealings. Perhaps that drove a little wedge in a relationship.

7) Pot City - Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts
Another Cowboy Bebop tune. No lyrics, just a slow jazzy piece that reflects the title quite well. Pot City is dreary and gritty, much like most of the Cowboy Bebop universe.

8) Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group
Ah, 1960's music. No deep meanings here. Just give the man some lovin'! If you happen to be a fan of this type of song (or 60's rock in general), check out the band known as Peace Train. I've only heard them once, though they are based in Central Indiana. If you get the chance to hear them, do it! They're very talented in what they do (which is cover all sorts of 60's songs).

9) Everyday Glory - Rush
I must have been distracted while listening to this. Not good, as it was my first time to listen to it. I can't really give it an adequate review at this moment.

10) Is It Real? - Scott Matthew
Ahh...3 Cowboy Bebop tunes in one Friday. Odd that I happen to be wearing my Cowboy Bebop t-shirt today. Connection? COULD BE! This song is quite depressing...it seems to be about somebody feeling incredibly detached from the world. He feels that it all seems made up, and there's no point in really living on in a dream world. Low, somewhat husky vocals match the feel of the song.

That's it for now! I feel a little out of it. This week has shot by, and my brain is still catching up. Ah, and before I forget. GameFAQs has been doing a Top 10 list for various video game topics for a while now in celebration of their 10th anniversary (has it really been THAT long? Jeez...). Today's particular list (http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/16.html) is a good one. I suggest you video game players check it out. Though I can't agree with many of the Top 10 lists that are put up, this one was pretty agreeable. Now, I'm really done. Have a good weekend, everybody.

See You Space Cowboy...

(Insert Post Title Here)

Whoo...I'm rather drained. Mid-Boss COMM 210 Paper tried to wear me down with its high HP (it was long), but I prevailed. Casting multiple 'bouts of internal swearing (all minor lvl. 1 swears, though) and replenishing myself with nutritious almonds, the beast fell. Then it came to face Boss Calc Test. This was a pushover! I think...rounding out the night, I had a random encounter with Nihongo Shukudai. Another long battle, but not too hard.

I'm feeling rather geeky. Quite geeky. I have not much else to post about, in all honesty. AH! Valentine's Day! Jen bought me Ape Escape 3! Ohhh yes...I love these games. I've yet to try out the game (busy busy busy), but I'm wanting to. Perhaps, tomorrow...I still have some tests to study for. And a speech to write. And COMICS TO READ! ARRRRGH! Curse you, weeks before Spring Break.

(Calm yourself, Corey...calm. Think of Pepsi Blue...mmm...refreshing)

See? Even though they no longer make the drink (in America) it refreshes like nothing else. Ah yes, another thing to mention. I frequently check out the free downloads over at Apple. I came across a game called Enigmo 2 (which led me to Enigmo). This taxes your brain and problem-solving skills. Both games are just demos, but if you have a Mac (or PC for Enigmo) these are definitely worth checking out. I personally feel that $30 is a bit much to shell out, but maybe they'll drop the price...check out the demo! Now! Your master commands it! Now that I look at it...Pangea Soft seems to have a slew of interesting games. I'll be sure to get back to you guys on what games are worth checking out.

That's all for now. I'm currently working/thinking about a couple of projects in the blog world. The first is completely geeky, and yet may brighten up Monday mornings. The other...is so horrifyingly amazing, that you'll just have to wait for it to be unleashed. You'll all be disappointed, probably...for I have no idea where it's headed. Let's just say it involves the words "Monkey" and "ville". Oh yeah. That's right.

Fuman's First 10 Friday

Yes, it's that time again. What wacky sounds will leak from the Apple earbuds this Friday? You won't believe the senses-shattering answer! Or maybe you will...

1) Aerodynamic - Daft Punk
I wasn't really in the mood for Daft Punk first thing in the morning, but I'm glad it was up first. This repetitive little ditty makes me feel...cool. Or something. It's Daft Punk, 'nuff said.

2) Never is Enough - Barenaked Ladies
Ah, one of my favorite tunes from the Stunt album. It's a good reflection of how the BNL operate. Yeah, there are a ton of great things to go out and do. But honestly, amazing grand adventures are definitely not necessary to be content. Though they are quite fun...
The world's your oyster shell
So what's that funny smell
You eat the bivalve anyway
And you're sick with salmonella

Whoo. Good lyrics!

3) I'll Fly Away - Gillian Welch & Alison Krauss
Another O Brother tune. Another I wasn't necessarily dying to hear, but it provided some nice relaxing folksy music to walk to. A classic hymn, pretty alright song.

4) Brotherhood of Man - Matthew Broderick, Gerry Vichi, & Lilias White
From How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I actually saw the musical when our high school put it on, and really enjoyed it. Though the song is good, I didn't feel the need to listen to all of it today. If you like musicals, you've probably heard this. If you don't like musicals, you probably won't like this.

5)US Army Hymn - John Philip Sousa
Well, how about that? I forgot I had this in my library. Very nearly marched back to my dorm...very nearly...

6) Don't Give Up On Us - David Soul
Yes, that's right. The original by our very own original Ken Hutchinson. It's so sappy, and yet it's actually a decent song. If you're unfamiliar with the song, Owen Wilson sang a version of it in the Starsky and Hutch movie (of course it was, for comedy's sake, a joke type version).

7) Damaged Goods - Fastball
I've had the Fastball CD for quite a while, but never really listened to more than a few tracks. I'm glad this First 10 Friday is giving me that opportunity to do that, because this is a good song I would have otherwise missed. Not my favorite Fastball song, but good. I guess they released another album after All the Pain Money Can Buy. Perhaps, I should invest in that...

8) Totem - Rush
A more recent Rush song. Similar to the message of Free Will, in that it's better to put your faith in the here and now, rather than some celestial force. At least, that's what I'm getting from it. I can't say that I agree that there should be NO belief in higher powers, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with staying down to earth. In fact, being so "high up" and intoxicated and blinded by religion causes major problems. I'm probably the least Christian Christian there is. Or am I? Mysterious...

9) Plastic Man - Arthur Korb
Back in the 60's a guy by the name of Arthur Korb released a few superhero-based CDs. This came from the Songs and Stories of the Justice League CD, which appears to have been issued in either 1966 or 1975. Insanely odd, this CD is so bad it's good. There's a nice mix of character themes and radio show style stories. Being the comic geek that I am, I couldn't possibly rob myself of this dazzling gem.

10) Good Life - Francis Dunnery
Ah, somewhat of a downer after that Plastic Man song. This is on the Scrubs soundtrack, which is an odd collection of random things - sort of like the show. This is all about moving on from a love, and wondering what will become of each other.

That's it for now. Hope you loved it. I am so ready for the weekend! A nice one with my Jennifer. Have a good weekend, everybody. And if a certain Chris Keith offers to show you the goat/brains/bat wing, DECLINE! That goes for if he asks if you want to "hear something funny" as well. Here's a gift, for all you Punch-Out!! fans.

You Confront the Abstract Art

Today will be a rather short post, I believe. Something came to my attention, though! Something of dire importance. Yes, that's right...the Mother 3 website has been updated! Gamespot has the new screenshots as well as a link to the homepage (it's in Japanese) where you can download the main theme as an mp3.

I think that's about it. I very nearly posted last night about some good food. You see, I've stumbled upon these Buffalo Wing Bleu Cheese chips that taste quite a bit like chicken. They're disgusting, but oh so addictive. Ah, the vending machine...it's quite a generous vending machine. Often it gives me an extra beef and cheese snack. Last night, it gave me extra change. Ohhhh yeah. The machine and I get along well.

Well, that's all for now. Expect another Fuman's First 10 Friday List tomorrow. I apologize for the lack of humor in this post. It was bad, I know. But...EARTHBOUND! YAY!

Harvey Dent

Today is weird. All day, I've felt like I've needed to be goofy and lighthearted. This wouldn't be a huge departure from my normal self, except that my mind was almost...hiding something. I can't quite explain it, but while I was able to be goofy, a lot of negative energy was residing in the back of my head. All day, I've felt blah in the back of my head. A lot of hopelessness over nothing in particular. I've wanted to cry and curl up with my beautiful Jennifer. It's an odd feeling, but I suppose I'll get through it. At least I've had my Mario World hack to keep me somewhat occupied.

Sorry for the short post, but I'm not in a really posty sort of mood. Just making sure you loyal readers have SOMEthing to read.

Oh, before I forget. You may notice a few new links on the right side of the page. Not only are there many outside sites, but there's a new blog! It's the blog of Ross, my good buddy since way back in the day. Check 'im out! It's just started out, but it looks promising. While you're at it, make sure you visit the other links.

That's all for now. See you later, alligator hand bags.

Vol.1, #50 VGMix....no more

It seems some moron has hacked into VGMix and ruined the site. Those that reign over the site have decided that rather than waste time meticulously rebuilding and "hacker-proofing" VGMix, they're going ahead with a VGMix 3.0. Good luck guys! I hope to see VGMix up and running again soon.

What a weekend. I got to spend some time with Jason, Nick, and Chris for the first time in a while. Great fun, staying up until 7 in the a.m. playing Guitar Hero and awaiting Chris' next display of "the Brains." I also caught the last bit of the movie Waiting... which is quite a good movie. Sort of moronic, but absolutely hilarious. Mmmm...another trip to Waffle 'n' Steak, the restaurant of the Gods. Afterwards, our party went on a salvage mission to our good buddy Kasey's. Hail Gordo! The next day, we ventured forth after losing our companion Chris to Greenwood. Picked up some great comics! I've got a nice stack of pulp to read through. I wouldn't mind a reread of Crisis on Infinite Earths, either...

Weekends like that make me wonder why the hell I'm in college. Well...I know WHY I'm in the college. But seriously, without your friends and wacky shenanigans, life's so pointless. That's why I'm so thankful for the people around me. You guys are great. I live for the shenaniganz.

Because Joey suggested it...

Alright, welcome to the Kingdom of Fuman! Following in the suggestion of Sir Joseph , I will try out this "First 10 Friday" thing. Remember, these are the FIRST 10 songs that played on a shuffled iPod playlist (which has been slightly modified to remove certain songs). These are by no means the best or even my favorite songs. In fact, I hadn't even heard 1 song on the list. Well, here goes!

1)Prince Ali - Alan Menken, Tim Rice, Howard Ashman & Robin Williams
Ahhh...remember the good ol' days when Disney was GOOD? Not a lot to say about this one, really.

2)Time Stand Still - Rush
This was the first time I intently listened to this. I had always liked the sound, but upon really listening to the lyrics, I realized this is a pretty good song. Seems to be about wanting to just slow down time a bit. Time seems to just slip away. Great song with back-up vocals by Aimee Mann.

3)Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
It's nice to have some classical mixed in there. Even if you don't recognize the title, you probably recognize the piece itself. Reminds me of Mayfest back in high school.

4)Moondance - Michael Bublé
I don't know...I gathered some of his songs because I liked the sound of his voice, so this was the first time I had listened to it. This song is okay, but I wasn't really in the mood for it. Might be good, but this may be coming off of the ol' playlist.

5)September Song - John Pizzarelli
Whoa! Two smooth, jazzy songs in a row. Pizzarelli has a very good voice and it matches the very slow, calming September Song well. I'm not sure who originally did it (SecondHand Songs claims it's Walter Huston).

6)In the Big Rock Candy Mountains - Harry McLintock
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is an EXCELLENT movie! If you've not yet had the opportunity to see this, get out and see it. A nice southern-based story loosely based on the Odyssey by Homer. Oh yeah, the song. It's got hobos and a magical land of paradise. What else do you need?

7)Dog Years - Rush
Yay for Rush! Odd that the 2 Rush songs on the Friday 10 list seem to both be about how quickly time passes. The lyrics, though they get the point across, seem a bit quirky if you really think about them. It's nice to deliver a good message with a slight bit of weird mixed in.

8)Mars, the Bringer of War - Gustav Holst
I admit, I didn't listen to this in its entirety. Dark and ominous, just like a bringer of war SHOULD be. If you've played Super Mario Brothers 3 for NES (and I know you have) compare the airship fortress music with this track. Cool, eh?

9)Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - William Shatner
No, not the Beatles version. Many claim this to be a drug reference (LSD) and Shatner's interpretation of this classic seems to just enforce it. He's a good guy, but he needs to stay away from covers! Unless he has Ben Folds watching over him, in which case he should produce more amazing covers like Common People.

10)Mad World - Gary Jules
From the Donnie Darko soundtrack, Gary Jules' version is a lot darker and more haunting than the original Tears for Fears version. A bit of a downer song, but accurately reflects what runs through many many peoples' minds every day.

That's it for the first installment of the First 10 Friday list. Hope you enjoyed it. I know I liked writing them.

Haxx0rz t3h l337 gaym3Z!!!1!1!11one!!1!!

Oh, how I loathe leet speak. It just seemed like a good title to me, as I've been playing some hacked ROMs (note that for security purposes, I do not OWN the ROMs. I just play them in my mind). Sure, I've messed with hacks in the past (even before my computer could handle an SNES emulator), but I've just recently being exploring them more deeply. Of particular interest to me are the great Super Mario World ROMs. The Reality Project, Dr. Mario, the list goes on and on...if you want to try to breathe some new life into games that you've beaten to death, give these hacks a try! They range from the difficulty increasers, to new features (Secret of Evermore 2-Player), to the wtf? category (Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom and Bizzarrio Brothers). I assure you, though, that there are some great projects out there.

Finished Get a Life the other day. William Shatner is my HERO! This book not only gives you a peek behind the scenes of TOS, but really shows the former Enterprise captain as a real person. Though he's been accused of showboating by Mr. Takei and others, this shows off a more normal...well...normal's not quite the word for Mr. Shatner, but a more modest Shatner. Some touching interviews and a few tales of Shatner's relentless assaults on Leonard Nimoy (or as the author might put it, "Leonard being a big baby") highlight the book. Heck, the humorous tales of Shatner/Nimoy are worth reading the book for. Can't forget the rubber alien mask antics...Pick it up! It's about 7 years old, so you could probably pick it up at Half Price for cheap.

As the readings of The Transformed Man came to an end, I began to peruse my book shelf for another book. I came across The Guide to the World's Greatest Treasures. Not a deep book, World's Greatest Treasures highlights a plethora of interesting historical mysteries. Some, like the Dead Sea Scrolls or Atlantis, are fairly well-known. However, I had never heard of the Baghdad Battery or Antikythera Mechanism before finding them in this book. Many treasures seem to be complete anachronisms and have made many a scientist and historian rethink some ancient civilizations. Did the Egyptians have the world's first electron tube? Some hieroglyphics seem to indicate that they did. If you can find this book by Michael Bradley, it'd be a good idea to at least flip through it and read a few sections. May get you to thinking...I know it made me think. It made me think, "Man...I want a Crystal Skull of Doom."

SPEAKING of ancient relics, paleontologists have discovered the remains of what appears to be an ancestor of the T. rex. It even has a nice little crest. Check out the news story.

Hrmm...my friends, it seem that this post is at an end. Tomorrow, taking a cue from Joey, you just may be treated to my "First 10 songs played" list. If you're VERY lucky, I may even add some commentary on the songs. Maybe. You probably won't be THAT lucky, though.

Down some Luck Sources and we'll talk. (I believe that 1 and only 1 reader will get that)

iRant

Morons.

Article Summary:
"Waaahhhh...I bought a music-playing device and I crank up the volume and listen to it constantly. I think my hearing's going. Wahhhh...How DARE Apple makes me listen to my iPod at full blast?"

Seriously, is it REALLY Apple's responsibility to limit how loud the iPod is? Do car manufacturers have to set your car's top speed at 70 mph? How about this whole water issue. If you ask me, it's dangerous to allow something that can potentially scald me if I boil it.

What kind of moron doesn't realize that any sustained sound aimed directly into your ear canal will cause hearing damage? The iPod's pretty loud, even at lower volumes (I usually have mine around 1/3 or 1/4 of the max volume) and I have had no difficulty hearing it. If outside noise really interferes THAT much with your headphones, purchase noise-cancelling ones or shut off the iPod. MORONS! Which reminds me...

There is a terrible evil a-brewin'. My buddy Jason has noticed this, as have I, but today I had a very concrete experience. People don't read. Now, I understand that constantly having your nose buried in a book is not everybody's ideal pasttime. In our brilliant little speech class, we were asked what our favorite books were. Probably half of the class claimed that they can't even remember any books they've read. Sad sad sad...

Reading OPENS YOUR MIND, SQUARES! FREAKY! Yeah, I can only stay ranty so long...then I just get goofy. Well, that's all for now.

"Death Pocket!"

Get a Life!

First off, I've nearly completed reading Get a Life, written by the one and only William Shatner. It's a good book, I must tell you. But anyway...

I had about 34 good ideas about what to post tonight. And now, at about 9 p.m. they have all fled my head. However...I do remember one bit. My comedic heroes. Now, I like most peoples' stand-up (barring such people as Todd Glass and that worthless Larry the Cable Guy). There are a few, however that rise above the rest in my mind. Here, in no particular order, are my comic heroes:

Mitch Hedberg - quirky and hilarious. I've also heard that he was a super nice guy! He is dearly missed...
Zach Galifianakis - again, quirky. Likened to a fat Jesus.
Jim Gaffigan - whoo! A comedian from Indiana. Deadpan + "audience" reactions
Denis Leary - one pissed off Irishman. One of the first comedians I ever saw.

Yup. There goes that idea. You should check these guys out, though it's unfortunate that Mr. Galifianakis doesn't have a CD out. You CAN catch him along with some other very funny comics in the Comedians of Comedy, though. Gotta love Brian Posehn.

What else to report? Umm...almonds are good. Oh, so are Twizzlers + Mr. Pibb.

I've been feeling...creative...as of late. This is odd, as I've recently been "recruited" by one Josh Orem to help him out with some of his wacky stop-motion action figure movies. I hope that goes well. I also have some other...bigger plans...MUAHAHAHA!!!

Well, that's all for now. And as has been the tradition for the past few posts...some lyrics.

"Take it easy on me now
I'd be there if I could
I'm so full of what is right
I can't see what is good"

The Floor-sugar Does Taste Rather Queer in This Area

It has finally happened! Head on over to witness David Firth's newest addition to the Salad Fingers series. It is quite enjoyable, as are all of the Salad Fingers series.

Well, that's it for the blog tonight. I didn't have much to say, but I just had to break the news on the new episode.

"And I wish I knew the things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm real"

The extreme link to of past 64 DS II: Cut director

After the person... directly that us being able to give extreme Nintendo, almost they are 15 years. And as for something 10 years for Nintendo 64! You like? The person... I have remembered my first glance of extreme Nintendo of JC Penney at bell air shopping center. The boy of Hoo. We bought our extreme Nintendo at optional night Wal*Mart. Only I having remembered after buying that, it sat down in the MacDonald private road and I who look at that the extreme world of て and Mario is included the excess had almost soaked by my! It can ride in Yoshi me, you were surprised completely with thought. As for Heh... as for the scratching saw which is struck from the item box where is based on some half of the memory box where Nintendo I am quickest in order to come out, when the wife of my uncle and that Belgium taught to me, was. And that me is attached by all my lives! Hmmm... memory of the beginning of my first Sega? Perhaps Babbage) from you bought that, (once more... I think) whether as for my father... the boutique of electronic engineering from the mall of the cherry tree (. I have remembered that you observe at that in order to obtain under the beginning box of Sega the worker rises vividly with the shelf. As for obtaining obtaining Ohhh... then me all of the cash which I can summon the sound wave from Aldi and in order to buy the joint of the finger to be that time which throws away the small bit together there. And this post, the finish with respect to Nintendo 64 day of thing which is received. ... Several Christmases... year. I have presumed 1996. I received new TV from my grandmother and Nintendo 64. Spasm well and the large container. Being surprised, I (me... how oh am high in Mario 64 which whether it came) striking the fact that the repair person of TV when demagnetizes our televisions the recall is done and Waverace 64, at the time of the ampere. And next shadow of empire. There was a war game of the large star. It is wampa or the cord/code which operates the 隼 of Millenium rising narrowly in my finger. It was good, that a little was the memory lane pleasure of amusement! At the time of the ampere, it is and... that is 19 years whose gambling is directly splendid (or so)! Here there are many many!

END OF ENGRISH!

Phew. Sound familiar? I decided to run the January 17th post through a Japanese translator, and then back through an English one. My...great fun! Well, have a good weekend all. Sorry about the lazy post, but I'm....lazy. BWAHAHAHA!!!

The Speed Force, Ted...it's gone.

Whoa. I just read DC's Infinite Crisis #4 earlier today. Just...whoa.

*SPOILERS*

Alright, now that THAT'S taken care of. Holy crap! This comic had a bunch of truly awesome moments. For some reason, when the reinforcements come to help out Superboy just struck me as amazing. Seeing three teams at once (Gar called on the Doom Patrol and Bart rounded up the JSA) just to help defend Superboy really symbolized exactly what the superteams USED to be like. More of a family thing, I suppose. Another really cool moment was seeing Krypto attack Superboy Prime and defending Superboy.

The final, awesome moment was the highlight of the entire book. Yep, we got to see good ol' Barry, Max Mercury, and Johnny Quick. Unfortunately, they didn't come to just chat...they put their all into helping Wally, Bart, and Jay push Superboy Prime into the Speed Force...ultimately, only Jay remained. Hmmm...seems like kind of a really quick death for such well-developed characters. Sure, I preferred Impulse to Kid Flash...but I hate to see the character go! Well, just about anything can happen in the upcoming One Year Later! If Identity Crisis, the Countdown(s) to Infinite Crisis, and Infinite Crisis are any indication of what's coming up, I have a feeling DC is going to have quite an exciting year!

Oh, another side note! I got to read the new Day of Vengeance special. One of my ol' favorites is back - that's right, the angel Zauriel! It's been too long, buddy! You can't go wrong with a Heavenly Host, a talking ape detective, and a cynical ol' dead guy. Highly recommended.

Phew. Well, this post was for all you comic geeks that read my blog. All...0-ish of them. And now for the video game geeks (of which there are considerably more). Animal Crossing: Wild World. Now, I didn't feel QUITE the same magical spark I got from the first AC, but it was close. Some game feelings you just never get again...those moments are few and far between. Good times are upon us. A new keyboard from Apple is in my future. As is an HDTV at my house (in other words, an older big-screen TV for MY room! MUAHAHAHA!).

Well, I just ran out of steam in this here post. So, that's all for now.
Saving Game...please do not remove power...saving...

You may now exit the blog. Loser.

This is the Ultimate Showdown...

First off, head here. A lovely little video (the mp3 is available, too).

Today is...blah. It seemed like it went by really fast, and yet it seemed so long. I don't really know how THAT one works out. Perhaps the walls of Hypertime are breaking down? Gah, such a geek. Things have been odd here since my first week back. I feel so out of it most of the time. Everything's sort of a blur, I just sort of exist, and I don't really spend time productively. At least, I don't think I do. I've been spending a bunch of time reading Wikipedia articles on whatever comes to mind (mainly video game topics and comic book-related readings).

Ah, last weekend. I nearly forgot to mention that. Friday was formal, and I took Jen out to New Japan before heading to the dance. GAH! The dance...though we had a good time, it seems all the DJ wanted to play was rap. And then some rap. Then some MORE rap, and finally...some...other nonsense. Only one slow song the entire dance. Regardless, we were able to hang out with Tyler and his Betty, which proved to be quite the grand experience!

Ah, update on the keyboard incident. I visited the Apple Store (a.k.a. Heaven) and asked about my keyboard. Wouldn't you know it? They offered to completely replace the thing! Unfortunately, they had none to trade so I have to trek back to Keystone. I'm not complaining, though! A free replacement! I finally got to handle the Mighty Mouse, and I must say that I now feel like I need to have one. At first, I wasn't too impressed but when you actually USE it, you realize it's quite a nice little mouse. A tad pricey at $49 (which is the one thing deterring me from buying it), but a nice little gadget.

I think I may have something else to impart to you, dear readers...but I'm sure it will come back. I'm thinking it was comic related. Well, we shall see.

The Force will be with you...always.

Boku no Idiocy

GRARGH! Why do I let stupid things happen? Last night you were all about to get a tribute to the King of All Cosmos...but no...I somehow let my cup of ramen tip and drop a MINISCULE amount of liquid onto my Apple Wireless Keyboard. It barely covered the arrow key region. Anyway, it began to go crazy...so I decided to clean it by removing the keys and wiping whatever was left. UNFORTUNATELY, after making it all spiffy clean, it decided to stop working. The Bluetooth receiver in the iMac registers that I do, in fact, have a keyboard there. Alas, it defies me by not pairing. I reset the keyboard and tried to pair the two in holy matrimony, but no...the little LED light comes on, but then begins blinking. I don't get this...the computer SAYS there's a keyboard there - but it LIES TO ME! ARGH!

Ah well...after half a day of using an onscreen keyboard (not recommended for IMs, by the way), m'buddy Amber loaned me her wireless. It seems I must soon go on a journey to Keystone and seek repair or possibly another keyboard.

DAMN YOU FRAIL OLD MAN HANDS THAT CAN'T HOLD ONTO A RAMEN CUP!
And thank you, Amber.

Super Link to the Past 64 DS II: Director's Cut

Man...it's been nearly 15 years since we were graced with the Super Nintendo. And something like 10 years for the Nintendo 64!? Man...I remember my first glimpse of a Super Nintendo in the JC Penney's over in the Bel Air Shopping Center. Hoo boy. We bought our Super Nintendo some random night at Wal*Mart. The only thing I remember is sitting in the McDonald's driveway after buying it, and I was nearly wetting myself over seeing that it included Super Mario World! I was completely amazed at the idea of being able to ride Yoshi. Heh...my earliest memory of Nintendo was when my uncle and his Belgian wife taught me that mushrooms come out of the item box based on which half of the box is struck. And that's stuck with me through all my life!

Hmmm...my first Sega Genesis memory? My dad bought it from...Electronics Boutique (or maybe Babbage's) from the Cherry Tree mall (once again...I think). I vividly remember seeing the worker climb up on a shelf to get down the Sega Genesis box. Ohhh yeah...and then there's that time I scrapped together every little bit of cash I could muster in order to buy Sonic and Knuckles from Aldi's.

And finishing up this post, the Nintendo 64 day of receiving. Christmas of...some...year. I'm guessing 1996. I received a new TV from my grandmother and the Nintendo 64. Oh, and a big container of jerky. Ah, how amazed I was at Waverace 64...and Mario 64 (which I recall beating when a TV repairman came to demagnetize our television). And then Shadows of the Empire. THERE was a great Star Wars game. Even IF the code to be a wampa or pilot the Millenium Falcon made my fingers cramped up.

Well, that was a fun little romp down memory lane! Ah, yes...it's been a great 19 years (or so) of gaming! Here's to many many more!

28:06:42:12

The 3-Day weekend has come to an end. Overall, a nice one. Of course it would have ended with a better flavor in my mouth if I didn't have to return to Ball State. Meh, whatever. Coming home Friday was a tough little task, as I really wasn't sure of my ride situation. However, I did make it home and then...to an Ataris concert!? WHA!? Yeah, I went to accompany Jason. It was actually quite a nice little adventure to Carmel, rife with Steak and Shake and Emo kids.

I was happy to find that my Satellite 4-in-1 Cartridge and S-Video cables came for the Sega Saturn meaning that the joys of Sonic Jam were in my grasp! And what a joy it is! Well...not AMAZING. But now with the 4-in-1 I AM able to save games for once. Mmm...NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon...Saturn, I love you! I love you AND your younger brother Dreamcast.

Saturday, I finally got around to watching Donnie Darko. Oh my goodness...I think if you were to soak your brain in acid and then place it in a paint mixer, you'd have an idea of what this film is like. Gay cowboy Jake Gyllenhaal is GREAT as Donnie, mixing a nice little soup of innocence, charm, and EVIL! If you don't nearly wet yourself when he does his little creepy smile, you are not human.

I'm not entirely sure if watching the movie was healthy for me, as it really disturbed me. I mean, really disturbed me. I found myself feeling quite odd afterwards. You see, last school year I had this dream. In it, I was in a large room that reminded me a bit of Rays Crossing church. Anyway, I was gathering with quite a few people (I particularly remember Devon Hubbs being there). We were watching outside as the sky sort of split and a large black cloud came down blanketing the Earth. Then, I promptly died. Unlike most dreams in which I die, I stayed asleep and I proceeded to Heaven. I didn't immediately go because, as I'm sure is actually the case, I had to wait for Heaven to load. That's right, Heaven was LOADING! I then proceeded to Heaven's menu screen and then I woke up coughing and choking on a mix of vomit and pretty heavy stomach acid. Needless to say, I was pretty disturbed about the whole thing. I was SO happy in my dream that I was going to Heaven, that I was disappointed to wake up. I wasn't wishing for death, but the absolute euphoria that came as a result to ascending to Heaven was just amazing...I've never really felt a feeling quite like it while awake.

SPOILERS FOR DONNIE DARKO...BUT NOT REALLY

Two things from the movie in particular disturbed me. One - the "end of the world" was portrayed as the sky splitting and...a black cloud coming down! CREEPY! I hadn't even seen the movie. Another thing - in the movie's final scenes, "Mad World" by Tears for Fears plays and there's a certain point in the song that goes "I find it kind of funny/I find it kind of sad/the dreams in which I'm dying/are the best I've ever had". Hmmm....sound familiar? Hoo boy. Certain little scenes stick out and really scraped at me emotionally and mentally. Watching a hypnotized Donnie clutch at a stuffed dog for comfort, for some reason, nearly made me burst out into tears. Who knows? This movie was great, but be warned! I could easily see this movie (and its website) driving some people crazy.

Well, 4 days until formal with Jennifer! Let's hope I don't snap and eat some faces before then.

Aoi Pepsi!

What a dark and depressing post...hmm....no matter.

As I type this, my Gmail inbox is refusing to open. CURSE YOU! Oh wait...there it goes. No new mail, anyway. Speaking of cursing, who's brilliant idea was it to have a calculus class from 6:30-7:45 at night? And who's the genius who made that the ONLY possible calculus class I can get into? Grrr...and it WAS on the 4th floor, but that's been moved, thank heavens.

Today is a good day. Today is the day that I began work on the transfer application process to IUPUI. Mmm...I can't wait to get out of here and out to IUPUI doing what I REALLY want to do. The deal is made much sweeter when I think that I'll be ever closer to my Pecan Pie.

I was reminded of a lost love today. Its name...was Pepsi Blue. Oh, how I loved the sickeningly sweet fruity/cola taste of this elixir. If only Pepsi hadn't canned...hehe..."canned" this wonderful drink. I hear rumors that in Mexico and Puerto Rico, Pepsi Blue is still sold! If any of you readers are from around those parts, I'd be willing to make some deals! Mmm...Pepsi Blue. Some go south for cheap perfume, alcohol, or altered Coca-Cola. Me? I want to just pick up some Pepsi Blue.

Well, that's about it for now. OH! I nearly forgot. A new remix project was recently made available via OC Remix. It's called Chrono Symphonic, and seems to be an orchestral arrangement of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. It's laid out much like a movie soundtrack. I've only listened to a few tracks so far, and I can tell you it's worth the umm...free download. If you're a fan of the work of Yasunori Mitsuda or Nobuo Uematsu (or you just really appreciate nice compositions) check this out!

Now, that's REALLY it for now.

iSad

I've heard the cries of the sad readers, and now...the Kingdom of Fuman has awakened from the holiday slumber! Christmas went well. I got my Sega Saturn and have since (by way of used videogame stores and the Internets) amassed a few games such as Myst, Mr. Bones, Panzer Dragoon, Sonic Jam, and NiGHTs. Of course, I can't play Sonic Jam until I get my 4-in-1 cartridge to allow my Saturn to play Japanese games. Oh, and the internal memory is screwed up meaning I can't save my games. Until I get the 4-in-1 that is...I hope. I also received some DS games such as Sonic Rush, Mario Kart, and Mario and Luigi. All very nice games, though Sonic Rush is certainly odd.

Well, the Macworld Expo is going on. I've yet to hear any amazing news about the iPod that was rumored (though they have released an FM tuner for the iPod - nifty, I suppose). In the computer world, however, some good announcements. As rumored, Steve Jobs unveiled the first Macs to use Intel-based processors. There's a brand-spankin' new iMac G5 which promises twice the power of the previous G5's with the Intel Core Duo chip. I'm very content with my current iMac, but I wouldn't mind getting one of these! In a related announcement, Apple has released the MacBook Pro which promises 4x the speed of previous notebooks. Couple that with the addition of iLife '06 and a built-in iSight and you have have a nice little notebook.

What else...? Ah, watching Bill O'Reilly get bashed on David Letterman certainly made me feel good inside.

Coming back to school has not been enjoyable at all. I don't know why I ever agreed to stay for another semester. I feel incredibly down and have seriously considered suicide. Perhaps the only thing that keeps me from heading down that path is that I know I have to live and see Jennifer again. I think about death and dying almost constantly. Not even videogames or music seem to calm me down. At the beginning of last semester, I claimed many reasons for not liking it here such as not fitting in, being surrounded by crap I didn't want to be around, and such. That's still true, but more than ever I feel incredible pain from not seeing Jen.

The first night, I didn't sleep well. My heart kept beating so fast, I was in a cold sweat, I had a ton of acid in my stomach and such...it was like some sort of panic attack without being panicked about a damn thing. I absolutely hate being here, and this time I feel like I might just do something about it. If you're cold, you put on a sweater. If you're hungry, you eat. So, if I'm in a place I'm not supposed to be in, that I don't want to be in, and feel incredible pain being here why shouldn't I leave? It doesn't make sense to go through all this crap when I know it's not worth anything. I hate people trying to shoot down that point by saying how important it is to get a degree. I'm not abandoning college! I'm going to IUPUI!

I've been scaring myself for the past month or so...heck, longer than that. In the past month, though, I've had some truly scary thoughts...I can say with at least 98% certainty that I am psychologically unhealthy. I can't talk to my mom about it. I don't know why I can't just come out and say exactly what's wrong with me, I just gum up when I try to. I'm not sure what's going to happen, but I hope I get things settled before I do something I really regret.

Phew...sorry about the sudden downturn. I've just not been well. Hope you had a nice break, everyone.

You Playing Mario?

So, I got the chance to play Sonic Robo Blast 2 again, but this time on an actual Windows PC. Wow...these guys really put a lot into this game! It's not perfect, but for a volunteer project this blows most other fan-made games out of the water. Not only is it cool to have a free 3D Sonic game (with available level and character mods), but Sonikku and SSNTails captured the feel of the classic Sonic games. The level designs feel more like traditional Sonic than Sonic Adventure or even Heroes did. You have your stereotypical checkerboard/palm tree area and a hilltop-esque zone. Then there are the add-on levels. I didn't play many of them, but one in particular caught my eye - the first level of Super Mario Brothers! It was completely 2D, but included item boxes and even a fireflower that gave Sonic and crew the ability to throw fireballs.

SBR2 ranks high on the nostalgia factor, and any Sonic the Hedgehog fan should give this project a run. Heck, I hope when I grow up I can make stuff like this! Soon...soon...

Nonworking Designs

Today's a sad day in the gaming world. Working Designs, a videogame company that can trace its origins to the 80's officially announced that its doors are closing. Now it's always sad when a videogame company goes under, but the reasons for this company's downfall was rather sad. I can't say that I've played any of the games they brought to America except some of the Arc the Lad collection. The one thing that makes me really sad? They were pretty much done with releasing Goemon on PS2!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!! I've been waiting for that since I first saw that obscure little screenshot back in PSM (wonder if that mag's still around...). So, I am a sad clown in that respect.

Finals are another story. I'd say my finals have had an ATK of about 3 with a DEF of around 5ish. SO EASY! It's HP is down, but you know what happens when the HP is low. That's right, Limit Breaks.

Man, someday I will post a meaningful post. In the meantime...11 days until Sega Saturn! WHOO!!!

Oh, that reminds me. Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a happy little free game. It seems some guys tweaked the DooM engine and made a 3-D Sonic the Hedgehog platformer. I suggest giving it a spin! It's pretty well done, though I could only play it under the restrictions of Virtual PC. I'm sure at full speed it's amazing. Even at reduced speed it's...amazing. Give it a try!

Where's the Ether?

I love video games. I really do. But games today tend to alarm me, and there's one simple reason for it - a lack of magic. By magic I mean an addictive quality that just made me want to play the snot out of a game. Super Mario Brothers 3 had it...Kirby's Adventure had it...heck, a ton of games had it. Once again, I'm probably just a bitter old man, but Halo 2 was fun the first time through. And then, it was fun again when I played multiplayer with people who didn't take the game so seriously. Online gameplay just didn't satisfy me. The only fun I've had with online gaming is playing Battlefront online with people I know. Oh, and Maple Story...of course that's online-only and I tried to avoid the serious Maplers.

Gamers are so "hardk0r3 t0 t3h maxx0rz" today. I'm glad that video games are getting more support from the mainstream nowadays, but every time I see a Spike TV commercial for it's "awards" program, I throw up just an itty bit. Oh, and a kitten dies. And my soul fades a bit. I sometimes fear that game developers sacrifice imaginative input for sparkly graphics.

This was going to go somewhere, but I lost my train of thought. Sorry about that. But you people should IM me and talk about this. It'd be a good conversation.

This post was boring. I promise a nicer one....later.

Green Greens, Butter Buildings, Posty Posts...

Holy Crap! I was just over at VGMix (which is an amazing site that any videogame or music fan should go to. I believe that's everybody, so everybody...GO THERE!). They have a new mix from Kirby Superstar. Can you believe that game is 10 years old!? I'm getting old...oh, Kirby Superstar...one of THE best Super Nintendo games ever.

Oh, what's this? A double post? Sorry, I was just amazed that the game was 10 years old. That, and I felt like plugging VGMix. And I was bored. And I'm preluding to the next post. Is preluding a word? I don't know. Well, I'm done for now. Buh-bye.

Previously on the Kingdom of Fuman...

"It sits there...laughing. Out there somewhere, sits a Sega Saturn. It's laughing...and gloating...it says "HAHA! You'll never get me! I'm far too elusive!" But Mr. Saturn (whoa, Earthbound) would be incorrect. For I see him...sitting on the eBay page."

Remember that? REMEMBER that? So, I'm sitting at my parents' computer Saturday night roaming eBay, mindlessly searching for a Sega Saturn deal. Oh, I came upon pages and pages of deals that were a bit...not dealish. AND THEN! And then, I found a nice little deal. Sure, I'd be paying a little bit for it, but I'd have a 3D controller and about 10 games (including NiGHTs and Sonic 3D Blast). I was close to buying it, but instead asked my dear old mother, "Mother dearest. You have been complaining that I haven't had much in the way of gift ideas. Mayhaps you'd like to purchase this Sega Saturn and games for me?" To which she replied something about not trusting online people for videogame consoles. I then told her I was going to buy it. Then, from the corner of my eye I see my stepdad setting down a USPS box. He opens it and...A SEGA SATURN SMILES AT ME! The heavens parted, light filled the room, and Yuji Naka's beaming face filled the sky. That's right, I'm getting a Saturn for Christmas. Oh yeah.

So, what else has been happening...my dearest Pecan Pie's play opened last weekend! Jennifer (the just-mentioned Pecan Pie) actually has the lead female part. If any of you readers will be in Shelbyville next weekend, I'd suggest shelling out the 5 gil...er...moneys to see it at the Shelbyville Community Theatre. It's called "East of the Sun" and is the wackiest Nordic myth I've ever seen. And that's the truth. The entire cast does a wonderful job and the set looks very nice. They've put in a lot of hard work towards this production, so let 'em know you appreciate them.

I've had videogames on the mind lately...I predict the next post will be about the lovely marvels known as BIDEO GEEMU! That's videogames for all you...normal people. Oh dear...it seems the White Castles I had for supper are wreaking havoc in my tummybox. It's time to rest...and read some more of Douglas Adams' The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. Until next time, dear readers.

Now Saving...Do Not Take Memory Card Off.
Save Complete.
You May Now Remove Power.

Lo, There Shall Come...a Post!

That's right, dear readers -- the Kingdom of Fuman is facing yet another revival! It's not a dream, not a hoax, not an imaginary tale! But can this author make an effort to continually update? Will good topics reveal themselves? Did a single person complain when this WASN'T updated? The answer to at least one of those questions is a nice NO. Or is it? You'll have to keep reading for that answer.

Prepare yourselves readers -- for soon today's videogames will come under fire, comics will be praised, and many more surprises will expose themselves. Join us for the next senses-shattering post in...

Hoo boy...this was brought to you by Ross.

All I have to say is this...this little kid is gonna be a mad scientist. And I fully support the little dude.

You go for it, you krazy Korean!

Adult Swim

Man, something just popped up into my head. Adult Swim was doin' their old Indian music show lineup bump. Where did all the shows go? I've been pretty much absent from the Adult Swim scene, and I've gotta tell you...even before I came here, Adult Swim's lineup had changed dramatically from the beginning. What's this Boondocks stuff? From comic strip to Adult Swim show? Well, we'll see. Maybe. I miss the days of Home Movies, Space Ghost, and Sealab. Oh, and Aqua Teen. Mmm...I feel a dream lineup coming.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast
Cartoon Planet
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Sealab 2021
Futurama
Family Guy
Harvey Birdman
Robot Chicken
Oh what the heck...throw in Tom Goes to the Mayor so I can complain about how stupid it is. And Venture Brothers 'cause it can be good. OH, and bring back the ol' Aquaman dancing in random locations. That was GREAT!

Oh, I forgot that we need some anime shows. How about...Cowboy Bebop and Lupin the 3rd. That's it. That way we can fill a whole night with comedy AND anime. Or let anime have its own night. I don't really care. Well, I'm sure I'll have a lot of people disagreeing with me on the dream lineup. Leave me a comment if you so desire.

General Tso Mounts an Offensive

Okay, so I finally got my hands on Star Wars Battlefront II. If you liked the first one, you'll love this. But anyway, the more important part of this. Chinese restaurants.

I love Chinese resaurants, especially Chinese buffets. There's something amazing about those wacky little houses of joy. Why, just today my lovely Pecan Pie took me to a place in Muncie called Red Sun Buffet. It appeared much like any other Chinese/Japanese/Italian buffet, but I'd have to say it was very good. I began to think about those ol' places...and I came to a realization. Regardless of where I eat at a Chinese buffet, I feel at home. There's something familiar and comforting about the buffets.

Man, I felt like I had a nice little creative stream flowing. But that's all dried up suddenly. Well, take this pitiful half-post. And savor it.

Potage

This is a post about soup. As some of you may know, I am a diehard fan of soup. I would probably dispatch a baby or two just to get a taste of some heavenly mana more commonly called....soup.

Now, there are many many types of soup out there. If you ask me, thin broths are far superior to those thick, creamy types. I'm not saying I don't like a thick clam chowder or cream of brocolli. However, you really can't beat the nice salty Italian Style Wedding broth.

Here's a list of some amazing soups:
Italian-Style Wedding
Alan Hidy's Kick Butt Soup (not an actual name)
Brocolli and Cheese
Potato and Cheese w/Bacon

That's just a sampling. You know, a lot about life can be explained in terms of soup. For example, sometimes conflicts and situations are just too hot to handle at first. So, you have to stir around a bit, and maybe blow on a few individual parts of your life until you can better handle things. Yeah, that sounds good.

Life's kind of like Italian-Style Wedding, I suppose. The little bits of pasta are the masses. They're nothing too amazing on their own, but as a whole they are very delicious. You just can't imagine Italian-Style without the pasta. You also have those big ol' meatballs. Though few and far between, they have a lasting impact. And of course, those little bits of spinach floating around...they're behind the scenes, but give a nice taste to the broth. Also, they'll surprise you every now and then by sliding around your mouth and letting you know they're there.

I have a million of these. But for now, I'm done. Oh, and some very very very good news. Recordings of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Radio Series have come into my possession. That's all the phases (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quintessential, and Quandary) for my listening enjoyment. OH! And another great discovery. Seems there's a nice little Earthbound remix project called Bound Together. I haven't listened to all of it, but the snippets I did hear sent little waves of happiness through me. Blue, blue, blue...

Well, that's all for now. Say "Fuzzy Pickles!"

Tuesday, November 01, 2005

Lunchtime doubly so...

So, I've taken to listening to the Hitchhiker's Guide original radio broadcasts. If you can acquire them, I'd suggest doing so! Just as the movie strayed from the TV series, which strayed from the books, this offers another variation of the story of the wholly remarkable book. In fact, the radio show came first. It's sad to think that we won't get any more of the genius of Douglas Adams, but we have a lot to thank him for.

I see that it's been a while since somebody's posted on this blog, and seeing as how I am the sole writer for this blog, I must accept full responsibility. I do this reluctantly, though. You may have noticed a new little feature on the right side of this here blog. I give you the Babel Fish from Alta Vista. Amaze your friends by claiming to read "only the finest Korean blogs!"

Today is a good day. Today, Star Wars Battlefront II came out much to the joy of...everyone but me. Well, not everyone. However, it's quite painful not having that shiny little disc of joy in my Xbox. Oh well, I can be patient. I have Phantom Brave to hold me over. Not to mention Makai Kingdom, We Love Katamari, and on and on...Oh, and I guess Episode III came out on DVD, too. Or something like that.

Remember Doom? Of course you do! If not, I suggest going and slapping yourself with a bag of frozen vegetables. It seems that there's been a project going on for a while now called Doom Legacy which is an effort to port Doom, Doom II, and the expansions to many many newer systems. Much to my joy, a Mac OSX version has been released with some major changes. You can actually look around in this one. Also, there have been some graphical improvements such as a nicer looking environment and lighting effects. The Imps' fireballs are all pretty and translucent now.

Well, there's not much else to report. I'm scared that soon I will be forced to read Infinite Crisis. We'll see how that goes. Oh, and my lovely Pecan Pie is coming up this weekend. Joy!

That's all for now.

One More Thing...

Alright, so my homepage is the Apple page which makes sense because I haven't changed it. So, of course I check out the news briefs in the middle of the page just so I have a heads up on the goings-on over at Apple. And I saw this...the new Power Mac G5 Quad. As I often do, I decided to pretend like I was going to buy one and built it at the Apple Store...this is what I made (the important parts anyway).

2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5
16GB 533 DDR2 ECC SDRAM- 8x2GB
2x500GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
QUADRO FX 4500 512MB SDRAM
Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel)
Bluetooth Module + AirPort Extreme Card
16x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mouse - U.S English
Mac OS X - U.S. English
Accessory kit

$18,662. Wow. 16 GIGS of RAM.2 dual-processors each at 2.5 GHz. Overkill? Oh, most definitely. But that doesn't matter. It's still flippin' amazing.

Why, Back in '95...

First off, I'm not going to pretend to be one of the "original" computer users for I am way too young to have a claim to that title. However, I do sort of pride myself for being able to say that my first computer experience was on an Amiga. At least, that's the first experience I remember - there are pictures of me in a diaper pounding away on a C64 keyboard.

Those were the days...installing a game? Psh, yeah right! We played Secret of Monkey Island on 14 floppy disks...and WE LIKED IT! There were so many wacky games for that old computer. The Great Giana Sisters sticks out as a marvelous Mario clone. Blood Money was a delightful little side-scrolling and overhead shooter. In fact, it was so advanced it had A voice sample in the game. A gravelly, barely understandable howl of "Bloooood Moneeeeeey" and then a high-pitched "it's a whole new world, yeeaaah" or something. And it broke into a nice techno dance beat as you mowed down various flying craft. Of course, I can never forget Zany Golf...how I long for the old Amiga system. Oh, the wonders of emulation - THAT'S what I need to do! If anybody plans to reach me soon, screw it - I'm shooting a round of Zany Golf. Or maybe I'll command a tribe of Lemmings. Maybe. Later.

As much as I loved the Amiga, our first Compaq was probably my first foray into modern computer-type areas. Decked out with Windows 95 and a little over a Gig of hard drive space, our little computer kicked butt! Memorable games included Space Ace, the Horde, Lode Runner, the Incredible Machine, and oh so many more. One program in particular actually reminds me of a sort of forerunner to the blogs. It was called Echo Lake, and you essentially created a book to log a journal or notes or what have you. Sadly, it was lost in a reformat many a year ago...

How about the old DOS command prompt? No fancy things to click here. Not familiar with how the ol' directory systems work? Guess we'll have to load up Buttons. There was something distinctly cool about accessing a program through straight commands.

This Mac is nice, don't get me wrong...but damned if my heart doesn't sing when I hear that familiar Windows "tadah!" In fact, my first step in the customization of Windows XP is always to change the startup and shutdown sounds. Oh, and I make sure to do away with that hideous green and blue bubbly theme. Give me ol' navy and grey any day of the week!

I can recall first getting connected to the Internet...the hideous screeching of the dial-up modem was music to my ears. Suddenly I knew more about videogames than what Nintendo Power told me. Sometimes I feel a pang of nostalgia for the old web sites with their shoddy lay outs and plain ol' texts. Graphics? We didn't need that crap! Not to the extent of today's sites, anyway.

Computer technology is changing. Everything is getting faster and sleeker...but if you grew up with an older system, respect the history! You're a lucky one if you got the joys of hearing a screeching dial-up modem or actually had to use screensavers to keep an image from burning into the monitor...maybe I'm just a nostalgic old coot. Heck, I'm nearly 19 and already longing for the old days. Is the career of a bitter old man in my future? Only time will tell...only time will tell...

This post is now shutting down...

It is now safe to turn off your browser...

iWant

As you may recall, I ranted a bit about the stupidity of an iPod capable of playing video. Well, now it seems that will be the only iPod available aside from the Shuffle and the Nano.

Today, Apple revealed an iPod with more battery life than before, video-playing capabilities (150 hours worth of video), and a slimmer design. For now, I am quite happy with my 20 GB non-color model, but the new iPod isn't quite as stupid as I thought it would be. However, the Nano showed us what thinness can lead to...

What's this? iTunes 6? That's right, now you can access the iTunes store and buy video clips for $1.99! These clips include music videos, movie trailers, and full-length episodes of TV shows. Now like I said before, that is an awfully small screen to watch video on. BUT WAIT! Apple has gotten clever...they've made a new dock that allows S-Video output so you can watch your video files on any S-Video ready TV or monitor. Spiffy.

And now, the angry section...I'm not angry at Apple, I'm angry at...umm...something. Probably the fates. See, the new iMac G5s came out. Not only do these have an extra .5 Gig of RAM available, have another possible 100 Gigs of storage, look sharper, have a built-in remote control, but there's a built-in iSight camera. Yes, the $150 awesome webcam that is just about the only one I've found that will properly work with Mac OS X Tiger. Actually, as far as I've seen, it is the only one that reliably works. I've half a mind to raid the iCare Corner on campus...muahaha...

So, that's it. My Apple update. That's about all I have to say right now...

Alarm Clocks

You know what I like? Alarm clocks. Sure, I wake up before the little guy most mornings, but I'm happy that it's the first face I see when I wake up. He's not like those annoying traditional clocks that tick and tock and all that jazz. No, this guy illuminates the room with his yellowish-orange digits and not a peep. Sometimes I like to look at the clock before I go to sleep and I see that little alarm dot. It comforts me to know that, through this sign, the clock is saying, "Don't worry, buddy. I'll wake you up."

That being said, today was a sleepy day. It was the kind of day where you just want to curl up on your bed and fall asleep on your psychology book. Oh wait, that happened. Except for the curling up part. For you see, it didn't occur to me at the time of reading that I would soon be asleep. Guess I'd better just prepare for that next time.

Coconut chicken wings. Those are probably the best thing I've had since coming to this Ball State place. Sure, a lot of people don't like coconuts. I don't blame them. They look like firm monkey breasts. On a kind of sad note, Aardman Animations (the home Wallace and Gromit and other animations) suffered a fire. I hear a lot of sets were lost, but it was good to hear the creator of the crazy clay duo, Nick Park, mentioning that it's just a minor event compared to other crap going on in the world. The film manager of Ipswich Cineworld described this is as "such a disaster." Meh...

Antics abound last weekend! A good buddy of mine got a little tipsy, and you know how that goes. Though not as intellectual as he usually is when he drinks, he did explain his constant urges to pee by referring to the multiplication tables. He also attempted to spray Easy Cheese to hide the stench of one of my poots. And wouldn't you know it, the cheese fell to the ground. Not happy with that, he then proceeded to lift the cheese from the carpet and hurl it at the ceiling where it remained all night. Good times.

It's Not That Easy Guys

Whoo...what to blog about? How about last Friday's statcounter statistics? 0 pageloads. NOT A SINGLE TIME WAS MY BLOG LOADED!!! Do you know how much that upsets me? Not a whole lot, really. I guess until I come up with some decent crap to write about, I'll be stuck in the low numbers. Even when I find something to write about, I'll have to be used to the lower numbers. OH well, it makes me happy. Once again, my lovely Jennifer came up to see me. We watched Dave Attel's Las Vegas thingy on Comedy Central, and OHHHH BOY! It is a great little program. Dane Cook is one funny guy.

I was going to go on about games and such...but I'm really too tired to do that crap. So instead, I'll post one of my earliest creations...YAMAUCHI BAT!

iRubbish?

Alright, so I'm sitting here thinking about blogging. I had no idea in mind, and then it came to me in the form of Google News. Apparently, the world's abuzz with the fact that Apple is having some sort of "mystery launch" soon. Many people are saying it's an iPod capable of playing videos, which MAKES ME ANGRY!!! If you have an iPod, you probably have a computer. Therefore, you can watch them on the computer. Why is it that people want to watch TV or movies on a screen so small? Has it come to the point where Americans are so addicted to TV that they can't possibly go anywhere without it? I don't know, folks...seems like iRubbish to me. On the other hand, maybe the mystery product is, in fact something much much better...we shall see. Mr. Jobs, show me something good!

On another note...I don't have much else to talk about. There was a major restructuring of my VGMix and OC Remix playlists (whoo...). Such is the exciting life I lead. I've been itching to play some classic Megaman games today. Heck, I feel like playing Megaman Legends.

Well, for now I am completely out of will to ramble. That's right, I'm out of WP. Will Points. Like Hit Points, but for will...

Good Thoughts Request

This was in the end of the last post, but I felt it was kind of inappropriate to put such a serious bit in an otherwise lighthearted post.

To wrap, a serious little bit. If you're reading this and you know the Tinsley family, there is a really tough situation going on right now. They could really use support in the form of prayer or general good wishes sent their way. Remember guys, it's important to try and smile even during the hard times.

Nintendo Fokkin' Fanboy

Yeah, that's right. I'm a Nintendo Fokkin' Fanboy. Well, sort of. Let's just say I'm very loyal to certain companies. Yes, Super Mario Sunshine made me want to frolic with a bunch of naked men around a beach yet I can still say it was a good game (which it was - not GREAT, but good). I'm a Nintendo Fokkin' Fanboy. And a Sonic one...and a Final Fantasy one...and so on. But don't think for a second that I can't see the flaws in the games! Oh, I can see the flaws of such games and yet I still think they have that little special somethin' somethin'. That's my opener for THIS post.

I'm starting to run out of things to ramble on about. I'm sure I could dredge up something from the dark recesses of my mind, but that would take so much effort. Besides, I'd rather whine about not having anything to write and then completely go against that by having a solid topic next time. That way you'll be pleasantly surprised.

"Oh, it's time to check Corey's blog. Yes, he has no topic about which to write yet I'll read it any-WHOA! A solid topic. Boy, am I pleasantly surprised!"

That's how it plays out in my head at least. Speaking of people who read this drivel, my pageloads shot through the roof last Thursday! I had 40 unique visitors from all over the world. That's a high number for this blog which sees about 5-ish visitors per day. I must figure out what was so special about that post. For you see, I base my complete self worth on how many people come to read this blog. So make me feel good about myself. Nah, just joshing. It doesn't matter to me if it's 2,000 or 2 people that read this. It's a fun little adventure regardless.

Well, that's it for now! I promise more exciting adventures tomorrow (or thereabouts). So come back! Same Bat-Time! Same Bat-Channel!

Blame Joey

Well, I was all done with my last post...and then Joey got to talking about the good ol' Dreamcast. If you've never touched a Dreamcast, then in my opinion, you are unclean and will spend an eternity writhing in the flames of damnation. But that's just my opinion. This reminds me of a story...it goes a little something like this...

Once upon a time, there was the NES and the Gameboy. There were others, but shut up - this is my story. Sure there were floods of crappy third-party games and multitudes of painful games based on movie licenses. But amidst all the dung, there were diamonds. The true classics which I don't even have to name because they're so well known. Yes, I remember wanting to find a pipe that would let me travel across the world...I wanted to ride alongside Jason in the SOPHIA...and yes, I too tried to inhale so much air that I could puff up and fly around by waving my arms. Unfortunately, it just made me pass out. And those were just a few of the memories made by the ol' grey boxes. They've never left me, and if you were to see the way I think, you'd see videogames everywhere in life.

I'd consider the next era of games the Sega Genesis and the SNES. This was my own Golden Age of gaming that consisted of RPGs (SMRPG, FFVI, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger), blue hedgehogs, and those amazing Mode 7 graphics. Cutesy characters ruled the gaming world. Just take a look at the marvel that is Rocket Knight Adventures...a possum in a suit of armor and a jet-pack? Oh yes... I still get a tingly feeling when I hear the opening chimes of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic's a character I really need to talk about soon...for as most of you know, I am a HUGE Sonic fan. Like, it's sick how much I like Sonic. The little blue guy is actually one of main drives to get a Saturn. Anyway, back to the systems...those were the days. Yeah, that's about it for that bit.

Then we had the Nintendo 64 and the Sony Playstation...for some reason, I could not bring myself to want a Playstation. Why would I, when I had access to Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Super Mario 64, Turok, and Star Fox? Can't forget Pilotwings 64...a classic sequel to a classic. Yes, I loved the Nintendo 64 and all of it's sans-CD glory. We don' need no steenkeeng CDs. Cartridges are where it's AT, man! Okay, so Nintendo screwed up there...but the 64 is still okay in my book. I finally caved in and got a Playstation which turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. Final Fantasy VII was what drove me to get a Playstation...Tactics, Tenchu, Ape Escape, and Spyro kept me there. However, I couldn't help but feel a slight tinge of evil emanating from the little PSX everytime it booted up...all the while 3DO's got up and slapped their owners across the face for buying such a system. And the Saturn reigned...but far away from me.

BUT THEN!!!! From the evil came glory. Sega released the Jesus of videogame consoles....THE DREAMCAST. Sure, it's not as impressive spec-wise as today's systems. The game library wasn't enormous. But gosh darn it, the little box of love had spunk. It didn't grind when it loaded...it chirped, happy to provide you enjoyment. I swear the lit triangle winked at me a few times, letting me know how much it loved me. When I first layed eyes on Sonic Adventure at Toys R Us, I knew this was an amazing little box. All those gadgets...online capabilities...and VMUs! How amazing is it to have a memory card with a screen? And you could download mini-games and all sorts of treasures! Oh Dreamcast...I love you. I even love having to use a boot disc to play the imported version of Shenmue II. I don't care because I love you and all of your Power Stone glory. Oh, Dreamcast...though the games have stopped coming, I'll keep a little bit of you in the VMU of my heart.

And thus ends my tale...for now...basically I don't want to talk about the Gamecube, PS2, or Xbox because this is where my feelings get complicated. Also, I'm kind of tired of typing for the moment. So that shall be a tale for another day...

BAMF!

Turkey Legge

Well, this weekend was pretty good. Actually, it was more than just "pretty good." It was GREAT. The first couple of times I came home from Ball State, everything seemed so weird...and not just because my room is slightly rearranged. I had some moments where I almost went into panic 'cause I had no idea what was going on. I'd doze off at Jen's house and wake up with a feeling of terror. This weekend, though, it felt like home again. Today I made my annual trek to the Renaissance festival in Harveysburg, Ohio, and if you've never been, GO! It's worth the trip just for the gigantic turkey legs, or as I like to call them God Legs. I lied. I don't really call them that, but they ARE that good.

Part of the Renaissance Festival experience is seeing all of the costumes put together by Renaissance fans. They range from professional to...not so professional to "what in blazes are you thinking?" For an example of the last tier, let me tell you about this trio of morons I saw today. They were equipped with togas, sandals, and olive wreaths upon their heads. THEY WERE DRESSED LIKE FREAKING ROMANS! Hoo boy...I guess the costumes looked alright, though. Some day I shall give in to my desire to join the cadre of fans that spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on a costume that would get you locked away if you wore it ANY place other than a Renaissance Festival. Or Medieval Times. That's a good place.

As part of my coming home tradition, I always stop to talk to my dad and pick up the last two weeks' worth of comics. I was especially excited about this particular shipment because a lot of the mini-series leading up to DC's Infinite Crisis concluded. It's kind of sad, because I was pretty impressed with them (Day of Vengeance especially...I mean, it has the return of a goofy character from the 50's: a super smart chimpanzee known as Bobo, the Detective Chimp. Only now he's a drunken super smart chimpanzee...). The whole Green Lantern Corps: Recharge also had me more than a little tickled. There's just something so cool about having such a huge organization be reborn. I suppose I should enjoy these comics while they last...if you follow comics at all, you'll know that DC's experimenting with an interesting approach. After this big event called Infinite Crisis (which will end up completely restructuring the DC universe), mos major titles will jump forward one year. To fill in the gaps, a weekly comic titled 52 will focus on different bits and uncover some new faces under familiar cowls and some all-new capes. I don't know...the DCverse already seems darker. Heck, there isn't much of a JLA right now. If I remember correctly, it's now Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern (Stewart). Sigh...why do you torture me, DC? WHY!?

Well, that's about all I have to say about that...

Just in Case

In case my lunch of ramen and a Red Bull makes my heart pop, I just wanted to let you guys know that it's been swell.

Blah blah blah...

What is up with Fridays? If you recall from last week's post, I had a butt baby with no understanding of patience. This Friday was no different...only this one got violent. I think I'm bruised. That's kinda gross, actually...well, Fuzzy will like it.

Unfortunately, I had no Safety Dance to accompany me this time. On a related note, Jeff Goldblum was no longer there! Some jerk destroyed him. This made my bathroom experience a very lonely one. Oh, Mr. Goldblum...where have your freakishly extended eyes gone off to? Guess it's time to print another.

Remember back in the day when I used to attempt to put some sort of angle on this blog? Well, I think I've given up on that...I like the randomness. But MAN...this kind of crap has to be boring. This one's short, too, so I'm probably at the end of the line as far as it goes for rambling. For today, anyway. Perhaps next time, we'll have a little post that is a bit more...umm...not pointless. Next time may not be until Sunday, though. Tough it out.

You Taste Like Sunshine Dust

It sits there...laughing. Out there somewhere, sits a Sega Saturn. It's laughing...and gloating...it says "HAHA! You'll never get me! I'm far too elusive!" But Mr. Saturn (whoa, Earthbound) would be incorrect. For I see him...sitting on the eBay page. His cackles ring out. Man, if I could just bring myself to buy one.

So, as you can see I'm still wanting a Saturn. Soon, it shall happen...in the meantime, I've decided I should probably play Sonic Gems Collection. It's a nifty little Gamecube game, and a must for Sonic fans. It includes the Arcade game Sonic the Fighters, Sega Saturn's Sonic R, and Sega CD's Sonic CD. Oh, and as a little bonus you can unlock some old Game Gear games (the entire GG Sonic library, I think) and Vectorman and it's sequel. But oh, don't give us Streets of Rage like the Japanese version...we wouldn't want it anyway.

Every once in a while, you'll come across something so amazing on the Internets that it defies all attempts to define it. For example, you had Arfenhouse Too on Newgrounds. Well, I've stumbled across another Internet marvel, which is actually about a year old. It's called Salad Fingers, and is a deranged creation of David Firth. Be sure to check out all six episodes! Episode 2 is probably my personal favorite. While you're at it, check out some of his other stuff...Burnt Face man is good, and much less deranged than the other stuff.

Anyway, I don't have much else to inform the world of. No wacky dreams that I can remember well enough to write about. Mmm...when I get home, I think Green Lantern: Recharge will be waiting for me. That should be great times. Well, I'll be sure to let you poozers know what's going on later.

2798

That's how many songs I now have in my iTunes library after my mass reorganization and purging/additions. Of course, it's not quite over...there's still some VGMix music to organize. A 75 song playlist is just too large. As I was speaking with Joey he revealed to me that he absolutely loves messing with his big mass o' music. I can see where he's coming from...I felt like MUSIC GOD! And for my next trick, I'll convert these m4a's to mp3's! HOOAH!

And for today's effed up dream...Mr. Drake and the Groundhogs. This was one of those dreams where thousands of things go on, but you don't really remember them when you wake up. The highlight was a bus ride (to where? I dunno) featuring none other than Mr. Stevie Drake. Anyway, I was sitting at about the halfway mark on the bus and it was quite crowded. One person yelled out that they saw a groundhog and then proceeded to tell Mr. Drake. Of course, in the dream it was well known that King Steve would snap at the mention of groundhogs. And so he did...something to effect of "I'll get my flashlight and beat them to death!!!" Then he was offered some gum...and he slooooowly bit into the corner eliciting a lot of "ohhhhs!" from the bus. I guess it was really odd for Mr. Drake to chew gum. After the initial nibble he quickly downed the thing and started yelling. Yep. The only other part I remember is being in Kellie's class with Tyler and Sarah. The good ol' days...

This weekend was great...my lovely Pecan Pie came up like she does every other weekend. We managed to traverse the great expanse that is Muncie and came upon a lot of great little shops. Well, great is the wrong word...and there were only like 2. The comic shop looked great, but alas it was closed.

Y'know, Toys R (pretend it's backwards) Us is a great place...that holds a LOT of memories for me, and I've always been fond of the store...who knows why? Maybe because my first Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast memories were there? Or maybe because my odd Mega Man figures from the mid 90's came from there? Who knows...it shall forever be a mystery. But I bet it has something to do with the old hanging Caped Mario they had when I was a kid.

Another store Jen and I went to was a place called Live in the Now. Kind of a misnomer considering they deal in used music, movies, and games. Anyway, they had some Sega Saturn games and that reignited an old passion of mine...THE QUEST FOR A SEGA SATURN! Y'see, I couldn't fathom owning a 3D system when the Saturn first came out...I could only drool all over the spiffy 3D controller at Media Play and Toys R Us. I absolutely loved playing NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon, and Sonic R...I never even got the chance to play Sonic Jam, but I'd give certain body parts away just to own it and the Saturn.

"Well, gee Corey...why don't you check eBay?"

I have. And I've made many many false starts on the mission to buy one. I'm going to...maybe. They're getting more and more expensive, though...well, we'll see. Some day a Sega Saturn will grace my collection of Heavens (or consoles, whatever you want to call them)...until then...I'll be very happy with my current systems.

Well, I told myself I would BLOG TO THE FINISH! And so I have. Yep, this is an adequate length of a post, I'd say.

*BAMF!*

The Safety Dance

Don't you hate those early morning poop urges? I'm like "Hold on, man! We're just getting started...let's take this one item at a time." At least they don't clean the bathrooms until 10:45. On the plus side, Jeff Goldblum is still hanging in there and somebody decided to provide music to my pooping experience by blaring The Safety Dance. What a great song...

Another night, another effed up dream. So I see this creepy-looking red-headed lady walking down the street. For some reason or another I decided to go talk to her and ask if I can help her with anything. She says sure...and we cross some train tracks to get to her building. And by cross I mean we have to time our jumps from platform to platform and avoid getting smashed. Pretty much like Frogger. Anyway, we make it across and we come up to her room which is about the size of a walk-in closet. And she starts laughing and tells me that "She can't wait to have kids, so she can beat them." She just kept telling me how crazy she was...needless to say, I got out of there pretty quickly. Back across the treacherous rails and suddenly I'm in a car with my lovely Jennifer. We're driving around what looks to be Greenwood, IN. She starts staring out at the window, which wasn't a good thing as there's a line of stationary traffic dead ahead. I guess we skidded into a car and died or something, because it was at that point I awoke to thunder. That was something.

Man, as long as I keep dropping acid having these wacky dreams, I should have loads of content to ramble on about. Maybe some day I'll get to those videogame-related posts.

You Order Chinee Food?

Okay, I lied about the whole underrated game thing. Not this time, pal. But before I get into my videogame-related nostalgic ramblings, lemme tell you about my dream from last night. Now I know...what does this have to do with anything? Everything. Trust me, man...just trust me.

So it began as a regular little walk to Japanese class from my dorm room. I noticed it was rather cloudy and of course, it began to rain. "Dear me," says I, "I'd best get my parasol from my room." I make a quick run over to my residence hall. Well, it would've been quick had I decided to go back the way I came and not taken a completely different course and gone AROUND the stinkin' place. After skillfully evading puddles and mudflows, I come upon my roommate. We share a quick word and I'm off again. Who should I meet, but Jason Donald Clark a good friend of mine. Turns out he lives in my residence hall, too! We find an exit that's sure to take us straight to my room - it doesn't. It leads us to a stairwell where we can JUST make out the image of Tyler Wilhelm Orem of Notre Dame fame. Jason and I take a quick duck into the room only to find that we made a poor choice. For you see, this room was an inverted gravity room and we fell to the ceiling, if you can imagine that. We felt like morons and left the room in search of...something. We wound up in sort of testing room...I don't know. All I know is that I became hungry so we left for food. Where LaFollette Complex used to be (which is a complex across from mine) was a basement that reminded me of a flee market and a Japanese grocery store all in one. And in the corner they had a grill and some sausage and egg. The chefs claimed there were no such food items and thus the dream ended. How about that? And I never got my umbrella.

That's all for now. If you carefully analyze the above dream, I bet you'll find a lot of hints at how to build a better love life. That, or you'll realize that Jason pulled a Jim Casey and is actually a Jesus figure in the above tale. That's what I learned from English - that every story is about a Christ figure and some other completely random theme about oppression. Until next time.

BOW TO FUMAN!

Up next...it doesn't really matter because I'd probably just post something completely different just to keep you all on your toes. All 3 of you that read this.

See You Space Cowboy...

Bush, search party of 3...

Man, I'm tired. It just came over me as I put forth an extreme effort to think of a title for this post. Thank you, Mr. Hedberg for providing me with such a nice title. Now, how to tie it in with my post? Umm...I went to Friday's last Saturday with my Pecan Pie and got the Jack Daniel's Sesame Chicken Strips. Them babies are GOOOOOOD.

Today was something...had a spot of homework here and there. I really think I lucked out and got easy classes this semester...it's a lot of reading, but that's about it. Had a nice time over at Jason and Matt's place. We reminisced about the good ol' times at Kasey's house.

"Hey, Jason...it's that girl's daddy!"

It got me thinking how those were probably THE best times I've ever had with friends. From Chris putting plastic bags on his head while riding down the interstate to Gordo's random comments regarding bratwurst, "shit we don't need to be doin'," and snow in the middle of summer. Those were great times...thanks to Kasey, Chris, Jason, Matt, and others for that crazy stuff. Hopefully many more shenanigans will come to fruition later.

Today was a nostalgic day. Not just the friends stuff, either. I really longed for sitting in my room on Counselor Row, playing Final Fantasy Tactics or Turok in the summer. Every once in a while screams would tear from Blaire's house (see link at side) as a game of Soccer Ball started. Those were good days...y'know it's really weird what sticks in your mind. I could list off thousands upon thousands of random moments that just strike me as special...of course, not many others would quite understand. That's okay, though - we all have our own unique memories.

Well, I typed and I typed about random crap that maybe 3 people will care about. I really hope I can start typing stuff of worth. For now, though, it feels good to just let my thoughts out. And I like to see that hit counter rise. Oh yeah.

BRAIN FLASH!!! or...storm...or whatever. Next time...it's gonna be about underrated games. Oh, and earlier today I made my first icon with Photoshop and Iconbuilder. BOW TO FUMAN!

Bow to Robo Conan!

I've neglected to inform you all that in my blog hibernation I acquired a nifty little iMac G5. And this thing whoops serious butt! For all of you Windows people...give the ol' Apple a try - you may like it! Of course, with all the power I have at my hands I could do all sorts of things...but I made that guy up there. Yep. Photoshop is my friend.

Update on the Cue Monkey situation. My lovely girlfriend has ok'd the name of Cue Monkey, HOWEVER...she doesn't want to have kids, so we can seXXorz all the time. Speaking of Jen, I get to see her tomorrow! Things are good...

Psychology is an interesting class...from what I hear most psychology 100 classes here at Ball State are pretty much bs classes. As luck would have it, mine - Professor Holtz's - is the one that actually counts as a class. So of course I'm fretting a bit over the exam I have today wondering what devious ploys Ron White (a name given to him because he looks and kind of acts like Mr. White) could throw in my way...and lo and behold I took the hour exam in 15 minutes with a 96%. WHAT!? Curse you, you vile trickster! Curse you...meh, at least I got a good grade on my first college exam.

UPDATE: I guess the rest of the class didn't so well. We were given an extra point, bringing it up to 98%. Ohhhhh yeah.

While we're on the subject of college professors, how about I ramble on about mine? I actually got lucky and I like all of my professors. My fellow classmates are another story, however.
First up, the above mentioned Holtz/White - he even does that trembling mouth thing that Ron White does while letting anticipation build for the punchline.
Prof. Richard Neel - he always shows up in black jeans, a random band t-shirt (the Stones, Cure, what have you), black leather vest, and black beret-like hat. He often strokes his long white beard while telling us the joys of free love and free thought. This guy is GREAT.
Prof. Sadatoshi Tomizawa - Japanese Mike Myers. Well, not quite. But he looks like Myers in that one SNL skit with Chris Farley and the Japanese game show. And he has some thing for telling us about Japanese beer. An awesome little guy.
There's another, but I really don't feel like typing. As if this hadn't gone on long enough...

Cue Monkey

Okay, I decided a week or two ago that Ball State made me poop. I have since changed my position - it gives me wacky dreams. A couple of nights ago, I had a very long complicated dream. I won't go into the details, so let's just say it involved a ballet/play with fish puns that made no sense and a guy with a large blonde beard walking in downtown Shelbyville in naught but a towel and a yellow shower cap. Explain that to me. Anyway, the culmination of the dream was in a car lot. A Chik-fil-a minivan drove by chock full of people eating waffle fries and chicken nuggets. And as I turned from the van I came upon Penn and Teller who happened to be selling cars. I struck up a conversation with them and asked Penn if his daughter was really named Moxie Crimefighter. In case you didn't know, his daughter really IS named Moxie Crimefighter. We had a good laugh and then he spoke to me...he told me I should name my child Cue Monkey. Cue. Monkey. Well assuming I ever have little ones, I've already got the name picked out. After all, who would argue with Penn?

5 Months and 1 Day

That's now long it's been since I've posted on this guy. I think I should start doing this again...yeah, I'm pretty sure I should. So to start off the "rebirth" of sorts I'm going to post a list of things which are wicked awesome. And if you don't think they are, too bad...they just are.

Final Fantasy Tactics, the Tick, Green Lantern, Jones Soda, Rush, Chicago (the band), Barenaked Ladies (the band), Sonic the Hedgehog, sRPGs, videogames in general, pirates, iPods, spheres, Diet Pepsi Vanilla, Star Wars, jerky, Chocolate Mini Peaks (at Wal*Mart - next to the Little Debbie snacks), Trogdor, comic books, superhero outfits, Redwall, fire, Photoshop, illegal downloading, Japan, Irish accents, Conan O'Brien.

But anyway...this guy's coming back to life. Tomorrow. Or whenever.

Teh Goggles! THEY DO NOTHING!

It has been a while since I've assaulted the web with my barrage of meaningless drivel. So, what's happened...? Well, I read Countdown to Infinite Crisis by DC, and I must say...DC is really trying to weed out all that is lighthearted and funny in the comics.

HERE THAR BE SPOILERS!

I'll try not to spoil too much, but let's say a couple of chuckleheads that kind of embodied the BWAHAHAHA-era of the Justice League are featured heavily in this. That's right, a story with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Beetle happens to be among my favorite heroes. This would be a good thing that they're featured, but they find themselves now in a JLA that apparently is comprised of asses. Despite the threats on Beetle's life and the history he has had with the JLA, it seems nobody cares about poor Mr. Kord. The writers seem to have shoved their ideas up the rears of the JLAers and they're not too happy about it. Even good old J'onn gives Beetle the cold shoulder after a near-death experience. These "unhip" second-stringers just don't get any respect. I swear, Kingdom Come is coming true. I wouldn't be surprised if Kansas was obliterated in a near issue...Of course, the end of Countdown didn't make me happy. At all. What's the deal? First, we lost Sue. God knows where the Atom has gone. Ralph isn't funny anymore. Impulse has become a more serious Kid Flash. Superboy always seems down or something...no more arrogance, just a cardboard cutout of a character. And now this. I love comics, I really do. But DC...you're scaring me!!! At least Rebirth is wicked awesome, as I hope the rest of the new Green Lantern series will be. I dunno...

END OF THE SPOILERS

So, what else? Lots of things. Pikmin 2 is happy. I mean HAPPY! Something about being in complete control of 100 little vegetable people. Makes me shiver. What's this I hear about a game called Jak X? Jak and Daxter...based on car combat? Hmmm...I don't know about that. And this new Sly game...Bentley pulling a Stephen Hawking and Murray going Gandhi? These times, they are a changin'!

And now for the HAPPIEST part of my recent online venturing...something so freaking amazing, you won't even believe it. Okay, if you aren't familiar with Final Fantasy VI (shame on you, by the way), you probably won't give a wad of snot for this. But anyway, this is the site of the holiness. Just click "New Game" on the black screen at the top. Don't worry about the Japanese language pack, for the vision of heaven is Flash. Man, I peed myself just thinking about this lovely little thing. Well, that's all for now. I'm going to try to give an indication that this blog is alive, but I'm not promising anything. Well, take care of each other and yourselves. ADIEU!
